Managing the ebb and flow of Inventory

It seems like I just ordered more kindersacks and BAM I'm out of the 9-24month organic lined. I had to put in a rush order for a few more hundred units and pay through the nose to expedite them across the ocean. Luckily, I have a great manufacturer who I've been doing business now with for 7 years, so they are very accommodating. My assistant (seen above) and I somehow marked a box wrong and I thought I had one more box of this size.

Without a "real" full-time assistant, it is difficult to keep track of the inventory. Oh sure, Quickbooks is supposed to do that for me, however, until this year, I've been on the end of the year only accounting system. We just changed merchant service systems to Quickbooks.

Note to any other Mommypreneurs - BIG TIP - I didn't want to put out the expense for a new Quickbooks (I was still using 2001!!!!! Embarrassing yes! However, if I had just upgraded, I would have found out that they offer a merchant service system years ago! Live and learn - so, any other Moms starting there biz, that's the big tip of the day - no dual data input if you have the same accounting system/merchant service system!

So, now we're taking inventory to order for the upcoming Winter 2008 - if anyone has any suggestions/wants for particular prints let us know - we'll be placing our big order for Fall/Winter 2008 very soon! Cheers!
